U.S. Tower Model W Specifications

The U.S. Tower, Inc. Model W has been tested with many of the popular turbines on the market such as the Bergey Excel and the Aerostar 6 Meter.  The bolt pattern of the top section allows either of these turbines to be mounted directly to the tower without modification.   Our towers are available hot dipped galvanized or natural weathering steel.

Note.  The US Tower, Inc. Model W was designed in accordance with the TIA/EIA-222-F standard and as follows:

Tower is located in Bristol County, Massachusetts.

A 120 mph 3-second peak gust ASCE 7-02 wind profile used (exposure C).

Wind importance factor is 1.00.

Nominal ice thickness of 0.7500 in.

Ice thickness is considered to increase with height.

Ice density of 56 pcf.

A wind speed of 50 mph is used in combination with ice.

Temperature drop of 50 °F.

Deflections calculated using a wind speed of 60 mph.
Wind turbine forces:
Weight 1150 no ice, 1330 Ice, 2200 lbs thrust no ice, 2000 lbs thrust ice.
